Precision optical sensing

Hold the optical path.
Protect the module.

Material directions for camera modules, active-alignment assemblies and LiDAR optics, developed around micron-level positioning, mixed-material interfaces and long-term environmental reliability.

Application scope

Every interface can move the optical result.

Lens, sensor, housing and circuit structures respond differently to cure, temperature and moisture. Material selection starts with the complete optical and mechanical stack.

01

Mobile camera modules

Lens-barrel fixation, VCM assembly, sensor reinforcement and compact module sealing.

02

Automotive cameras

Optical-path stability through temperature cycling, vibration, humidity and long service life.

03

LiDAR optics

Precision attachment of emitters, receivers, lenses, mirrors and optical subassemblies.

04

Active alignment

Rapid position locking followed by complete cure without unacceptable focus or axis shift.

05

Optical sensors

Bonding and protection for compact sensing modules with sensitive surfaces and tight tolerances.

06

Module sealing

Environmental protection around housings, connectors and mixed-material interfaces.

Precision comes before headline strength

A strong joint can still fail optically if cure shrinkage, CTE mismatch, outgassing or fixture release moves the calibrated position. Evaluation must track optical output as well as mechanical adhesion.

Key challenges

Maintain alignment through cure and service.

Qualification should reproduce the real geometry, substrates, light path, thermal budget and reliability cycle.

01

Cure movement

Control shrinkage and stress so the lens or emitter remains in the calibrated position.

02

Thermal mismatch

Balance modulus and CTE across glass, metals, ceramics, polymers and circuit materials.

03

Shadow areas

Complete cure where housings, components or opaque substrates block direct light.

04

Outgassing

Reduce contamination risk on lenses, sensors and other optical surfaces.

05

Environmental load

Maintain the joint through humidity, thermal cycling, vibration and shock.

06

Production control

Coordinate dispense volume, fixture time, exposure and final cure with takt and inspection.

Material directions

Match cure strategy to the optical structure.

Specific grades are selected only after reviewing light access, joint geometry, substrates, operating environment and the required optical stability.

ROUTE 01

Optical UV and dual cure

Rapid positioning for accessible joints, with dual-cure options where shadowed regions need a secondary cure mechanism.

Evaluation route

Measure optical position throughout the test.

Mechanical screening establishes a baseline. Final selection depends on the optical output of the assembled module before and after reliability exposure.

01

Define the stack

Confirm materials, coatings, bond-line geometry, optical tolerances and forbidden contamination zones.

02

Set the process

Map dispense, active alignment, fixture release, light exposure, thermal cure and handling windows.

03

Track movement

Measure position, focus or signal shift during initial cure and after full cure.

04

Run reliability

Repeat optical and mechanical checks after thermal cycling, humidity, vibration and shock.

Evaluation framework

Connect material behavior to optical performance.

Final material selection and equivalency must be verified on the customer’s actual components, equipment and reliability specification.

  • Cure shrinkage and position shift
  • Fixture and full-cure time
  • Light spectrum and exposure
  • Shadow-area cure
  • Adhesion to actual substrates
  • Modulus and CTE direction
  • Outgassing and optical cleanliness
  • Thermal cycling
  • Damp-heat aging
  • Vibration and mechanical shock
